How to Make Wedang Ronde
Step 1: Prepare the Filling
Blend the roasted peanuts, sugar, and salt until evenly mixed. Shape the mixture into small balls and set aside.
Step 2: Make the Ronde Dough
Combine the glutinous rice flour and salt in a bowl. Gradually add warm water while kneading until a smooth and elastic dough forms.
Divide the dough into three equal portions.
- Add red food coloring to one portion.
- Add green food coloring to another portion.
- Leave the remaining portion white.
Mix each portion until the color is evenly distributed.
Step 3: Shape the Ronde Balls
Take a small amount of dough and flatten it in your palm. Place a peanut filling ball in the center and carefully seal the dough around it to form a smooth ball.
Repeat until all dough and filling have been used.
Step 4: Cook the Ronde Balls
Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the glutinous rice balls and cook until they float to the surface.
Remove and drain.
Step 5: Prepare the Ginger Syrup
In a large pot, combine water, sugar, ginger, pandan leaves, lemongrass, and salt.
Simmer over low heat until the mixture becomes fragrant and comes to a gentle boil.
Step 6: Serve
Place the ronde balls in serving bowls.
Add the sliced kolang-kaling, bread cubes, tapioca pearls, and longan fruit.
Pour the hot ginger syrup over the ingredients and serve immediately while warm.
Enjoy your homemade Wedang Ronde, a comforting Indonesian ginger dessert drink that is perfect for warming the body on cool evenings.
