A former bank employee has shared her inspiring journey of leaving a stable corporate career to pursue full-time opportunities on the live-streaming platform Bigo Live.
She previously worked at the headquarters of a bank in Kedoya while also working part-time as a host on Bigo Live. Balancing both responsibilities proved challenging, as she often went live immediately after work and occasionally streamed during breaks at the office.
Reflecting on that period, she described it as one of the most exhausting times in her life. Long working hours, daily commuting, and the demands of maintaining two jobs left her physically and mentally drained.
Despite concerns from her family, she eventually made the difficult decision to resign from her position at the bank and focus entirely on Bigo Live. According to her, the earning potential on the platform was significantly higher than her salary at the bank.
Her mother initially opposed the decision and became emotional upon learning that her daughter planned to leave a secure banking career for online live streaming. However, the family's perspective changed after she received her first month's earnings from Bigo Live.
After receiving her first payment, she invited her mother to visit a travel agency and explore Umrah travel packages. The gesture deeply moved her parents.
"When I asked my mother to look at Umrah packages with me, both my mother and father hugged me and cried. They couldn't believe that I was able to earn that much through Bigo Live," she recalled.
Today, she credits Bigo Live with helping her achieve several personal goals. She has been able to purchase her own car and motorcycle and is currently supporting her younger sibling's education.
Her story highlights how digital platforms are creating new career opportunities for individuals seeking alternative sources of income in the growing creator economy.
While career choices may vary from person to person, her experience demonstrates that determination, consistency, and hard work can sometimes lead to unexpected success in the digital age.
